The first home game for the Jacksonville Jaguars wound up being the first exhibition victory for the St. Louis Rams.

Chris Miller threw two touchdown passes to Isaac Bruce, and Tommy Maddox sealed the victory with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Turhon O’Bannon, giving the Rams a 27-10 victory over the expansion Jaguars Friday night.

The Rams (1-2) ended an 11-game losing streak in the exhibition season, dating to 1992.

As the game was winding down, St. Louis linebacker Thomas Homco added a final blow, picking off Mark Brunell’s pass and returning it 40 yards for a score with 1:18 remaining.

The defenses made the big plays and backup quarterback Brad Johnson made the difference as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Oakland Raiders, 20-17, in an exhibition game at Minneapolis.

With the Vikings trailing, 17-14, with 1:49 left to play, Johnson relieved third-stringer Chad May and led a 47-yard touchdown drive with no timeouts. He finished the drive with an 18-yard scoring pass play to Chris Walsh, who broke free from Dan Land at the two and scored with six seconds to play.

Johnson, who also threw a touchdown pass in the second quarter, finished 11 of 17 for 99 yards.
