Dove Hunt slipped through on the rail to win the $150,000 Belmont Budweiser Breeders’ Cup by two lengths over Fly Cry at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Southland-based Unfinished Symph, sent off as the 6-5 favorite, was another three-quarters of a length back in third in the field of six on grass. It was the second loss in a row in New York for Unfinished Symph, ridden by Chris Antley.

Ridden by Pat Day and carrying 121 pounds, Dove Hunt settled off the pace before launching his bid on the turn. He found room after being blocked in midstretch to complete 1 1/16 miles in 1:40. Coming off an allowance victory at Saratoga, the Neil Howard-trained colt earned his sixth victory in 10 starts this season and $92,970 for owner William S. Farish.
