PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AFC : Raider Interest? At Banks It’s 21%
With an appeal to the “crazed addiction” of Oakland Raider fans, four banks offered loans for season tickets at up to 21% interest.
The program was announced Thursday in newspaper ads that told lovers of the team: “Face it, you have a problem.”
Wells Fargo, Union Bank, Bank of America, and MBNA Bank will offer loans between $1,000 and $25,000 to buy season tickets.
The new program is designed for fans without a credit card or much money in the bank, according to Max Muhleman, president of the Oakland Football Marketing Assn.
“It was terribly important to make this as affordable as possible,” Muhleman said.
The headline on the ad read: “Your crazed addiction to the Raiders may be untreatable, but we’d be happy to finance it.”
