Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale High running back Jason Klintworth was stopped two yards short of the goal line on fourth down with 47 seconds left as Alhambra hung on for a 13-7 nonleague victory at its home field.

Klintworth led all rushers with 191 yards in 28 carries.

Adam Tate rushed for 138 yards in 19 carries for Alhambra in a game dominated by both teams’ running attacks.

Alhambra took advantage of good field position in the first quarter after Glendale failed to get a first down on a fake punt.

Ten plays later, Phil Huertas swept right end for a four-yard touchdown.

Glendale answered at 6:12 of the second quarter on a two-yard run up the middle by Klintworth.

Alhambra took the lead for good with 1:20 left in the first half when quarterback Gilbert Castaneda scrambled around the left side on a three-yard run.

Glendale quarterback Jeremy Callister managed only 14 yards passing and threw two interceptions.
