Matt Miller overcame six turnovers to throw two touchdown passes in the final 4 1/2 minutes--the latter as time ran out--as No. 21 Kansas State finally wore down Cincinnati, 23-21, Saturday night in a nonconference game at Cincinnati.

Kansas State (2-0) struggled through much of the game, and trailed, 14-0, after six minutes.

Miller connected with Kevin Lockett for both late touchdowns, on throws of 28 and 22 yards, the second coming after Cincinnati (0-2) had taken the lead with 44 seconds to play.

Kansas State Coach Bill Snyder said, “Miller played a terrible game. I had the chance to go with Brian [Kavanagh] in the second half, but I wanted to give this young man a chance to gain some confidence.”

Tulsa 24, Oklahoma State 23--Troy DeGar, playing with a cast on his left hand, rallied the Golden Hurricane (1-1) with three touchdown passes in the final eight minutes for a stunning nonconference victory at Tulsa, Okla.

DeGar, benched for two series in the third quarter, passed to Michael Kedzior just inside the end zone with 16 seconds left as the Golden Hurricane (1-1) beat the Cowboys (0-2) for the first time in four years.

The Cowboys appeared to have it locked up when quarterback Tone’ Jones scored on a nine-yard run for a 23-3 lead with 10:36 left.

But DeGar, six of 19 at that point, went to work. The quarterback, who broke a bone in his left hand in last week’s 37-5 loss to Baylor, finished 17 of 38 for 217 yards.

Kansas 27, North Texas 10--Mark Williams threw for three touchdowns, two to Isaac Byrd, and the Jayhawks beat the Eagles to spoil their home debut as a major college team. The game at Texas Stadium in Irving, Tex., drew 20,211.

Bowling Green 17, Missouri 10--The Falcons outscored the Tigers, 17-0, in the second half to win at Columbia, Mo.
