Coach: Tom Weber (21st year).
1994: Third at the State Division III finals, Century League and Southern Section Division III-AA champions.
Key returners: Heidi Bogue, Jr; Karen Booth, So; Leslie Burton, So; Jessica Dahlberg, So; Kim Lacher, So; Katie Kennedy, Jr; Ginny Skogman, So; Megan Weber, So; Kaylee Whitfield, Sr.
Key newcomers: Angel Asche, Jr; Nicole Bandel, Jr; Laurie Burns, Fr; Carrie Lenahan, So; Alyssa Wittenberg, So.
Outlook: There’s only one senior on the county’s deepest team, so the Vanguards could hold onto their top ranking for quite some time. Dahlberg and Burton lead the way with Kennedy penciled in as the No. 3 runner. Dahlberg was fourth at 800 meters at the Orange County Championships last spring. Burton won the freshman/sophomore 1,500 meter title at the same meet. They will compete for the county’s cross-country championship this fall after skipping the race last year. Wittenberg ran the 3,200 meters in 11 minutes 55 seconds last spring and is making her cross-country debut.
