A retired Los Angeles police officer who fired a gun inside his Agoura Hills home surrendered to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after a two-hour wait Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The man, a 25-year veteran of the department, was heard firing a gun inside his home in the 29400 block of Quail Run Road about 6:30 p.m., Deputy Matthew Rodriguez said. Deputies who responded to neighbors’ calls saw the man, who was not named, lying on the floor of a room inside the house, heard more gunshots, and called for a special weapons team.
About 8:20 p.m., “when he heard all the commotion and he saw the special weapons team individuals,” the man emerged from his home and surrendered without incident, Rodriguez said. The man, who had a two-inch cut on his forehead, was taken to a local hospital for medical and psychiatric examination, he said.
