Driver Arrested After Fatal Crash
Los Angeles police arrested a 32-year-old woman Wednesday on suspicion of manslaughter after a car she was driving hit a utility pole in Studio City, killing a passenger.
The suspect, Lori Levine, was taken to a hospital following the crash, which killed Carrie Shepherd, 34, of Monterey Park, authorities said. Levine, who is suspected of drunk driving, was traveling in the 12800 block of Ventura Boulevard about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday when she turned south onto Goodland Avenue, ran off the road and struck a power pole.
Levine was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center for observation, police said.
