Capistrano Valley Christian 23, Riverside Sherman Indian 6--Bryant Wolfsberger carried the ball 22 times for 290 yards and three touchdowns as Capistrano Valley Christian defeated host Sherman Indian.

Wolfsberger put the Eagles up early in the first quarter on a four-yard touchdown run. Tim Baker ran in the two-point conversion, giving Capistrano Valley Christian (2-1) a 8-0 lead. Later in the first quarter Wolfsberger scored a 42-run and Baker followed with another run for two points.

After a scoreless second half, Wolfsberger broke the game open on an 83-yard run that put Capistrano Valley Christian up 23-0.

Riverside got its only touchdown on a four-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Chula Vista Midway Baptist 14, St. Margaret’s 0--Despite outgaining Midway Baptist in total yardage, 215-183, visiting St. Margaret’s suffered its third consecutive defeat before 150 at Midway Baptist.

The Tartans (0-3) were led by Justin Jameson, who gained 29 yards in seven carries, and Mike Heyendrych, who completed 11 of 26 passes for 124 yards with two interceptions.

Bob Lanier and David Baize had touchdown runs for Midway Baptist (1-2), which also recorded a safety in the fourth quarter.

Estancia 31, Calvary Chapel 19--Bachy Gonzalez’s 59-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter secured Estancia’s nonleague victory over Calvary Chapel at Orange Coast College.

Gonzalez, who rushed for 116 yards in 18 carries, took a handoff around the right end and outran the defense down the sideline.

Calvary Chapel scored first on a 39-yard touchdown run by Jeremy Dutton in the first quarter.

The Eagles answered on a one-yard plunge by Jeff Perry and 27-yard field goal by Chuck Burden in the second quarter.

David Kuhn’s 54-yard run gave the Eagles a 13-10 lead, but Chris Felix and Frough Jahid scored on short touchdown runs to put Estancia on top, 24-13.

Laguna Hills 29, Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World 27--Corey Pardoe threw a two-point conversion pass to Jerry Hart in the fourth quarter to give the Laguna Hills the victory.

The Hawks came back from a 27-7 first-half deficit, scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter. Laguna Hills tied the game after Pardoe ran four yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Mike Jones scored on a two-yard run for the Hawks and Todd Heller added a touchdown on a nine-yard run from Kevin McCafferty. Jones, the county’s leading rusher, gained 133 yards in 26 carries.
