SANTA ANA — A man was shot to death Tuesday evening after a confrontation with two bicyclists, one of whom opened fire, police said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, was standing in the 2600 block of West Lincoln Lane about 7 p.m. when two men rode up to him on their bicycles, Police Lt. Dave Petko said.
The three men talked about an unknown subject before one of the men on a bicycle pulled out a gun and fired two to three shots, Petko said. The assailants then fled east toward Sullivan Street and were at large late Tuesday, police said.
The victim died at UCI Medical Center in Orange about 8:30 p.m., Petko said.
Investigators said they believe the shooting is gang-related.
