Westside : Cigarette Thief Gets 25-Year Prison Term

Share

A Venice man was sentenced Monday to 25 years to life for stealing four cartons of cigarettes from a grocery store in Marina del Rey.

Alan Lee Stark, 36, was tried and convicted under the “three strikes” law. Stark has been convicted of at least seven felonies since 1977, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Darren R. Levine.

Stark’s undoing was the $72 in cigarettes that he was convicted of stealing from an Alpha Beta store in December. Stark took four cartons from a display cabinet, stuffed them into his pants and walked out the door, Levine said.
