FILLMORE : Sheriff Offers Reward in Home Arson Fire

A $10,000 reward is being offered by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for setting fire to a Fillmore house, leaving the resident badly burned.

The arson incident occurred about 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 4 at 632 Central Ave. after flammable liquid was thrown into the residence and set afire, sheriff’s deputies said.

The victim, Leonard Garcia, 48, was seriously burned and is still undergoing treatment at the Grossman Burn Center at Sherman Oaks Hospital.

The fire caused $45,000 in damage to the structure and $25,000 damage to the contents.

The reward money is coming from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department asset forfeiture account.
