ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL / PREP EXTRA : Tustin’s Victory Over Santa Ana Is a Costly One

Share

Brandon Lambert and DeShaun Foster each ran for a touchdown to lead Tustin to a 13-7 Golden West League victory over Santa Ana Friday at Tustin High, but the victory was costly.

Tustin (4-4-1, 3-0-1 in league) will meet Servite next week to determine the league championship without starting quarterback Robbie Caston.

Caston, a senior, was ejected with five minutes left after a skirmish with a Santa Ana player who had tackled him out of bounds after a short run. Section rules require an ejected player to sit out a team’s next game.

He was replaced by Todd Scott, a sophomore.

The ejection ended what had been a reasonably successful outing for Caston. He completed six of eight passes for 77 yards, including two to Dominique DeGrammont, which set up both Tiller touchdowns.

Tustin took a 7-0 lead just before halftime on a 32-yard run by Lambert, who led the Tillers with 65 yards in 12 carries.

Foster scored on a one-yard run in the third quarter for a 13-0 lead with 3:54 left.

Santa Ana (1-7, 0-4) cut Tustin’s lead to six in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by Danny Saldana.
