Game Postponed by Power Outage

MOORPARK — A power outage forced the evacuation of students at Moorpark College Thursday night and also postponed a high school football game between Royal and Simi Valley scheduled to be played on campus.
Larry Logan, Ventura County Sheriff’s senior deputy, said a transformer in the east end of Moorpark blew out at approximately 7 p.m.
Because city officials could not determine when power would be restored, the game was postponed.
“From time to time these things happen, but it’s most inconvenient,” Logan said.
Officials from Royal and Simi Valley hoped the game, which annually draws more than 5,000 fans, could be played after a short delay.
However, after a lengthy wait the campus was evacuated.
