Weekend TV : Budget Impasse the Hot Weekend Topic

Share

There’s more to this weekend than a cross-town rivalry, although local football fans might disagree. But for those who must watch the traditional battle, the UCLA-USC football game airs today at 12:30 p.m. on ABC (Channels 7, 3 and 42).

TV movies this weekend are heavy on the family fare, starting with a sequel to “Annie”--the non-musical “Annie: A Royal Adventure,” starring Ashley Johnson, George Hearn and Joan Collins, tonight at 8 on ABC.

In what TNT is touting as the “last classic Quest,” the animated movie “Jonny Quest vs. the Cyber Insects” airs Sunday at 4 p.m.

More mature audiences can tune into the two-part murder-mystery “Dead by Sunset,” starring Annette O’Toole, Lindsay Frost and Ken Olin, Sunday and Monday at 9 p.m. on NBC.

The comedy “Out There” centers on alien abduction and stars Bill Campbell, Sunday at 8 p.m. on Showtime.

And the most popular topic on the public-affairs shows is the budget impasse between Congress and President Clinton, followed by Florida’s straw poll.
