* On this date in 1984, the Raiders beat the Indianapolis Colts, 21-7, at the Coliseum, giving them a 9-4 record and clinching their 19th winning season in 20 years.
* You wouldn’t think the 49ers needed inspiration to play the Rams, but they got some from Todd Kinchen. They scored 35 consecutive points after he kicked and punched their goalpost after catching a touchdown pass. It was to get back at Ken Norton Jr., who punched the Rams’ goalpost after two interception returns for touchdowns in a 44-10 victory at St. Louis.
