Douglas Traded to Bucks for Day, Lister

The Milwaukee Bucks, looking to jump-start their offense, traded guard Todd Day and center Alton Lister to the Boston Celtics on Sunday for point guard Sherman Douglas. And Buck guard Eric Murdock said the dealing isn’t done yet.

“The team hasn’t been playing that well and we were looking to make a change,” Buck Coach Mike Dunleavy said.

Douglas is “a veteran point guard who can provide us with strong leadership. He has the ability to run a team.”

Murdock said he believes he will be sent to another NBA team.

“I really think I’m going to move [today]; that’s the latest I’ve heard. I’m very happy if that is the case,” Murdock said before Sunday night’s home game against Minnesota. “It’s part of the game. It’s part of the business. It won’t be hard.”

Douglas was caught in a backcourt logjam. Since last season, the Celtics acquired free agent Dana Barros to go along with guards David Wesley, Greg Minor and Dee Brown.

Going into this season, Douglas was averaging 13 points and 7.3 assists. He averaged 9.8 points in 10 games this season and was averaging 23.4 minutes a game, mostly as a reserve.

Day, 25, has been averaging 9.1 points and Murdock 6.9, with both playing about 21 minutes a game.
