Coach: John Azevedo (sixth year).

1994-95: 22-0, 4-0 in the Olympic League; was favored to win third consecutive State championship, but was defeated by San Jose Independence in finals.

Key returners: Tito Archuleta, So. 112; Joe Calavitta, Jr., 135; Burt Pierson, Jr., 125; Phil Wozniak, Sr., 145.

Key newcomers: Matt Azevedo, Sr., 119; Louie Hernandez, Jr., 140; Ty Wilcox, Jr., 152.

Outlook: Gone are State champions Josh Holiday and Ed Mosley and State qualifiers Mike Aquirre and Matt Van Hook. But the Eagles still have State finalist Calavitta and two new transfers. Matt Azevedo, who is John Azevedo’s nephew, is a two-time state champion from Las Vegas who is ranked No. 1 in the county at 119. Wilcox (152), a junior who also is ranked first in the county, was a Nevada state qualifier last season and will be a strong anchor in the middle weights. The lower weights are well represented by State qualifiers Archuleta (112), who made an impressive show last season as a freshman, and Pierson, who wrestled at 112 last season.
