Coach: Joe Mark (sixth year).
1994-95: 32-2, 5-0 in the Orange League; fell short of expected goal, but still managed to win their second league title.
Key returners: Alex Coria, Sr., 130; Reuben Droughns, Sr., 189; Robert Droughns, Sr., 171; Tim Duye, So., 152; Raul Gastellum, Sr., 140; Richard Ramirez, Jr., 125; Jose Rodriguez, Jr., 145; Juan Sierra, Sr., 112; Mike Slach, Sr., 160.
Key newcomers: George Chavez, Fr., 103; Ed Coria, Jr., 135; Anibal Reyes, Jr., 119.
Outlook: Mark calls his team well balanced and thinks it has the ability to go far. Last year, the Colonists were hampered by injuries and academic problems. But if they can stay healthy and hit the books, this could be Anaheim’s season. Although the Droughns brothers usually are in the spotlight, Mark said Alex Coria (130) could be the best wrestler on the squad. Also keep an eye on Sierra, Rodriguez and Duye. “I don’t think anybody will be able to touch Calvary Chapel in Division I, but I think we may have a real good chance for second or third place,” Mark said.
