MEINERS OAKS : Deputies Investigate Man’s Fatal Shooting
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies Monday were following leads but had no suspects in the slaying of a 29-year-old Ojai man who was found shot Sunday outside a Meiners Oaks stable.
Brent Matthew Price, shot once in the upper torso, was found after someone called the police to report hearing a loud voice and a gunshot, said Senior Deputy Chuck Buttell.
“It’s basically a real whodunit,” Buttell said Monday. “We’re still gathering information and talking to people who knew him.”
Deputies believe the shooting was not gang-related and was not a suicide, Buttell said.
Price was found outside Larry Gardner Stables, partly owned by Sheriff’s Lt. Jim Barrett. Barrett has no knowledge of the circumstances of the homicide, Buttell said.
