Man Dies While Stringing Lights
A 70-year-old man died Monday, apparently of a heart attack, after climbing to the roof of his house to hang Christmas lights, officials said.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of his relatives, was draping the lights on his house in the 7100 block of Whitsett Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when he was stricken, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said.
Firefighters scaled the house and tried in vain to revive the man, who died at the scene, Collis said. The cause of death will be officially determined by the coroner’s office.
