Strawberry Is Facing Charges of Failure to Pay Child Support
Former Dodger Darryl Strawberry was charged Monday with three misdemeanor counts of failure to pay child and spousal support.
The charges are based on affidavits provided by Strawberry’s former wife, Lisa Michelle, on behalf of the ballplayer’s two children, ages 10 and 7, according to the L.A. District Attorney’s office.
In her affidavit, Strawberry’s former wife said he had fallen $372,760 behind in court-ordered payments to her and the children.
The couple married in 1985, separated in 1992 and divorced in 1993. Earlier this year, a Superior Court judge ordered Strawberry to pay $12,810 in monthly support and child care costs and $22,420 a month to his former wife. Strawberry’s arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 23.
