GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Emde Paces Sixth-Ranked Marina

Marisa Emde scored 12 points to lead sixth-ranked Marina past Costa Mesa, 65-42, Tuesday in a quarterfinal game of the Cypress Maria Upton Classic.

Marina (7-0) advances to play Cypress in the semifinal round at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

In other tournament games:

Cypress 46, Torrance 33--Jennifer Laster had 10 points and 16 rebounds for Cypress (4-1) in a quarterfinal victory. Cypress broke open the game by outscoring Torrance, 12-5, in the third quarter.

Bell Gardens 59, Western 26--Bell Gardens advances to play Lakewood in the semifinal round at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

In pool play at the Estancia tournament:

Corona del Mar 61, El Toro 45--Jennifer Gardner scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Lindsay Warmington had 17 points and nine assists and Doris Hawley had 12 points and 18 rebounds for Corona del Mar (7-1).

Pacifica 48, University (JV) 24--Heather Green scored 21 points to lead Pacifica (4-2) in pool play.

Estancia 59, Aliso Niguel 22--Jessica Waltz scored 22 points and had seven steals to lead undefeated Estancia (6-0).

Irvine 50, Saddleback 34--Sonja Dahlman scored 12 points for Irvine (5-2).

In the Gary Raya Coed tournament at El Dorado High:

Pomona Ganesha 41, Valencia 39--Valencia was up by nine after three quarters, but Angel Hines’ offensive rebound and basket with six seconds remaining gave Ganesha the victory.

In the first round of the La Quinta tournament:

Norwalk Glenn 52, La Quinta 46--Erin Neely scored 17 points for La Quinta (1-3), which closed to within 48-45 with 1:07 remaining, but the Aztecs got no closer. Angela Baca scored 24 points for Glenn (3-2).

Foothill 60, Troy 26--Ashley Massimino scored 11 points for Foothill, which led, 41-19, after three quarters.

In the Express League:

Heritage Christian 65, Bethel Baptist 10--Bekah Ramirez had 27 points and 11 rebounds for host Heritage Christian (2-6, 1-1), which led, 20-2, after one quarter.

In nonleague games:

Woodbridge 74, Rosary 33--Krissy Duperron scored 13 points for Woodbridge (5-0), which led, 34-16, at halftime.
