SANTA PAULA : Pilot Stable After Crashing in Orchard
- Share via
A 52-year-old lawyer whose biplane crashed while performing stunt maneuvers remained in stable condition Wednesday night in Ventura County Medical Center.
James L. Cunningham Sr. of Ojai was practicing aerial acrobatics above an orchard off of Hall Road in Santa Paula, a popular spot for stunt flying, when his plane went down.
The licensed pilot apparently lost some power and his plane came down over a grove of lemon trees.
Two witnesses pulled Cunningham from the crumpled plane after calling 911 and drove him down Hall Road until they met up with an approaching ambulance.
