Mater Dei 84, Kennedy 64--Tom Lippold made five of seven three-pointers and finished with a game-high 25 points for Mater Dei (11-1). Troy Harrell made five of eight three-pointers and finished with 15 points also for Mater Dei, which plays Compton in the second round at 8:30 tonight.
Compton 62, Fountain Valley 45--Nathan Strange scored 18 points for Fountain Valley, which plays Kennedy in a consolation game at 10:30 a.m. today.
Long Beach Wilson 58, Valencia 51--Roy Blanchard scored 14 points for Long Beach Wilson. Robert Smith led Valencia with 13 points and teammate Rocky Cardenas had 11 points.
Santa Clara 52, Laguna Hills 50--Lukman Dotson scored 22 points to lead Santa Clara. Mike Scaglione scored 21 points and Matt Houser scored 12 for Laguna Hills.
Laguna Hills outscored Santa Clara, 34-28, in the second half.
Tustin 57, Laguna Beach 37--David Lalazarian scored 19 points and Robert Griffin 16 for fourth-ranked Tustin, which led by 15 at the half.
The Tillers (11-2) will play Long Beach Wilson at 6:50 tonight.
