Agoura Hills : Trees Placed Curbside Will Be Recycled
- Share via
Curbside Christmas tree recycling will be available in Agoura Hills between Tuesday and Jan. 6.
The city’s trash haulers, Hillside Rubbish Co. and Las Virgenes Disposal Co., will pick up the trees on the same day trash and recyclables are picked up.
Trees may be placed on curbs or cut into sections and placed in green waste recycling containers. They must be free of ornaments, nails, metal stands and tinsel. Flocked trees and trees sprayed with fire retardant chemicals will be accepted.
After Jan. 6, trees must be cut into sections and placed in green waste containers.
The trees will be ground up by the Los Angeles County Sanitation District and used as mulch or compost. Last year, according to Agoura Hills officials, more than 3,200 trees were recycled in the city.
Trees may also be dropped off at Gates Canyon Park, 25801 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Calabasas. Drop-off dates are limited to Saturday, Sunday and Jan. 6 and 7.
For information, call Hillside Rubbish Co. at (818) 707-8800, Las Virgenes Disposal Co. at (818) 889-9400, Sandra Mathias of the sanitation district at (310) 699-7411, ext. 2437, or Mike Kamino of the city of Agoura Hills at (818) 597-7321.
