COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : HOLIDAY BOWL : Rams’ Lubick Glad He Stuck Around

Share

When Colorado State Coach Sonny Lubick guided the Rams to a 10-2 record and a berth in the Holiday Bowl last year, rumors swirled he would replace Dennis Erickson at Miami when the latter left to coach the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

But Lubick, who served as Miami’s defensive coordinator from 1989 to ‘92, decided to stay and signed a contract extension through 2001.

The Rams are the defending Western Athletic Conference champions and only the third team in conference history to appear in the Holiday Bowl two years in a row.

“I dreamed about getting back here, but I didn’t think it was a realistic goal,” Lubick said.
