Add another accolade for Texas defensive end Tony Brackens: All-American, as named by Successful Farming magazine.

“I think you have to be from a farm and play football to get on it,” he said.

Brackens qualifies, coming from a family that raises more than 300 cattle in Fairfield, Texas, about 90 miles south of Dallas, and spending some of his off-season competing in rodeos.

“My brother, Keith, and I do team-roping,” said Brackens, who probably has to work to find a horse to carry his 250 pounds quickly enough to cope with a scared calf. “I take the head and he takes the feet.”
