COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Concordia Wins in First Round of Tournament
Concordia took a quick lead and held on to beat Concordia (Ill.), 84-65, in the first round of the California Lutheran men’s tournament Friday.
At the end of the half, the Eagles led by 24 points. Pharoah Jones and Danny Barajas had 17 points each to lead Concordia (8-4).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Southern California College 54, Graceland (Iowa) 41--Jody Caruso scored 19 points and Heather Woodruff added 14 for Southern California College (5-5), which outscored Graceland, 29-18, in the second half.
SCC, which led by two at the half, held the visitors to 38% shooting from the field and 25% from the line for the game and forced 33 turnovers. SCC also shot 38% from the field and 42% from the line.
