Palisades earned third place in the Round Rock tournament in Austin, Tex., with a 71-59 victory over McNeil (Tex.). Johannes Burge led the Dolphins with 26 points, and Tony Marks blocked eight shots. Palisades is off to the best start in school history at 12-1. . . . How valuable is Kejuan Woods to the Crossroads boys’ basketball team? In the ninth-place game of the Best of the West tournament in Long Beach, Crossroads was leading by 18 points when the 6-foot-6 Wood left the game in the second quarter because of a dislocated finger. The lead quickly vanished and Crossroads ended up falling to Fremont, 72-65. . . . John Thorrington had two goals and Travis Putnam added two assists for Chadwick in a 3-1 victory over Mid-Pacific Institute in the fifth-place game of the Iolani boys’ soccer tournament in Waikiki, Hawaii. Rob McKinnie also scored. . . . Sisters Carmen and Casie Boone scored goals in St. Bernard’s 3-0 girls’ soccer victory over St. Anthony. . . . Beverly Hills’ Vanessa Spaeth scored both goals in a 2-1 victory at Redondo in the Ocean League opener for both schools. The Normans improved to 11-1-2 overall. . . . Brandon Granville scored 26 points and had seven assists in St. Bernard’s 77-59 victory over Cathedral. Daniel Coleman contributed 22 points and eight rebounds. . . . Culver City running back Noe Jaramillo and Beverly Hills’ running back Aaron Kogan were named to the All-Southern Section Division VII football team. Beverly Hills defensive lineman Tyler Lund also made the team.
