Nunnery Saves Moorpark With 3-Pointer

Tim Nunnery’s three-point basket at the buzzer lifted Moorpark College to a 53-51 victory over Santa Barbara in a Western State Conference North Division game Saturday night at Santa Barbara.

Nunnery, who scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half, took an inbounds pass in the front court with four seconds remaining, dribbled briefly, then fired from 35 feet. The play capped a dramatic comeback for the Raiders (11-12, 2-0), who fell behind, 34-14, in the first half and trailed by 17 at halftime.

Valley 71, Glendale 66--Michael Farmer had 14 points and eight steals, and Wil O’Neal added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Monarchs (17-7, 2-0) in a WSC South Division game at Glendale. Carl Biel had 20 points for the Vaqueros (4-16, 0-2).

Cal Lutheran 73, Caltech 51--Dave Ulloa scored 14 points and the Kingsmen (11-4, 3-1) forced 38 turnovers in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Caltech.

WOMEN

Pepperdine 75, Santa Clara 65--Lisa Siders scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds for the Waves (8-8, 1-3) in a West Coast Conference game at Santa Clara.

Ventura 82, Oxnard 47--Brianna Kanongata’a scored 18 points and Tori Anderson added 14 points and six steals for Ventura (22-0, 8-0) in a WSC North Division game at Ventura.

Canyons 95, Pierce 42--Melissa Dunkerley scored 18 points and Kerri Garland added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Canyons (14-9, 2-0) in a WSC South Division game at Pierce. Lala Aratoon added 13 points, 13 assists and nine steals for Canyons.

Michelle Johnson had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Pierce (5-14, 0-2).

Valley 72, Glendale 63--Shawanda Hotchkiss and Valery Brady each scored 18 points for Valley in a WSC South Division game at Glendale.

Vanessa Cortes scored 13 points for Glendale (6-13, 0-2).
