Anti-Gang Sweep Results in 9 Arrests

Share

Oxnard’s crackdown on suspected gang members continued Sunday with an early-morning sweep of 22 homes in that city and Port Hueneme, resulting in nine arrests for probation violations and a variety of misdemeanors.

It was the second sweep in four weeks in a community that has endured a rash of gang-related killings in recent weeks.

Oxnard police, accompanied by members of six other county law enforcement agencies, seized machetes, drug paraphernalia and allegedly stolen property, including cellular telephones, during the raids. Those arrested ranged from 15 to 24 years of age.

A similar effort Jan. 10 led to the arrest of 12 suspects.
