Police stopped two teenagers for a routine traffic violation early Sunday and discovered a cache of stolen items that included stereos taken from six different cars in another city, authorities said.

Mario Pardo, 18, of Lynwood, and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested about 5 a.m. on suspicion of burglarizing six cars in the 600 block of North Harbor Boulevard in La Habra and possession of stolen property, Brea police said.

La Habra police investigators said two teenagers broke into the vehicles from 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday by breaking a window or prying a door.

They stole items left inside the cars, such as a briefcase, and in some cases, ripped open the dashboards and took the stereos, La Habra Police Sgt. Ray Breur said.

The burglars allegedly loaded their vehicle with the stolen goods and fled to Brea, where they were stopped by police for driving with a broken tail light, Breur said.

After further investigation, police officers learned that the items in their car were stolen from vehicles at a La Habra apartment complex and arrested the teenagers.
