Hart Loosens Tie With Hit in 9th as Glendale Wins, 4-3

Aryn Hart singled home Karl Castro in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday to give Glendale College a 4-3 nonconference baseball victory over El Camino.

Christian Hernandez picked up the victory for the Vaqueros (1-2-1), who scored three runs in the first inning.

In the ninth, Marc Scorza walked and Castro came in as a pinch-runner. Ralph Lomeli’s grounder and an error sent Castro to third.

CS Dominguez Hills 3, The Master’s 1--Dan Prentice went two for four and scored the only run for the Mustangs in a nonconference game. Jeff Bennett singled to drive in Prentice in the sixth inning.

Brit Cornwell (0-1) went seven innings for Master’s (0-3), allowing one earned run, while striking out six and walking four.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Highland 71, Littlerock 51--John Burrell scored 24 points and Nick Howell added 14 as the Bulldogs (15-9, 8-1 in league play) clinched the Golden League title.

Santa Clara 73, Moorpark 63--Skye Peterson scored 18 points and Jeff Lacefield added 12 as the Saints (19-4, 9-0) clinched the Frontier League title.

Patrick Tate scored 19 points and Kevin Lawrence added 17 for the Musketeers (16-10, 7-2).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Alemany 65, Louisville 38--Carly Funicello scored 28 points and grabbed 18 rebounds at Louisville (14-6, 6-3) as the Indians (17-7, 9-0) clinched their third consecutive Mission League title.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Reseda 2, Sylmar 2--Ivan Campos and Carlos Cabrera staked Sylmar (11-1-4, 7-3-3) to a 2-0 lead before Alex Acevedo and Oscar Sims scored in the last three minutes for the Regents (7-5-3, 7-3-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Sylmar.

The Spartans clinched their second conference title in three years.

Saugus 4, Canyon 3--Nate Wright scored his 28th and 29th goals, and Jeff Hammond and Steve Lane also scored as the Centurions (20-2-2, 7-1-1) clinched the Foothill League title.

It was the Centurions’ first league title in boys’ soccer since 1981, when they were in the Golden League.
