Hart Wraps Up League Title

Jaclyn Kuptz had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Hart High to a 45-37 victory over Saugus in a Foothill League game at Saugus Friday night. The Indians (19-7, 10-0) won their fourth consecutive league title for Coach Dave Munroe.

The Indians are also undefeated in the league in those four championship seasons.

Christine Sifferman scored 12 points for Saugus (8-11, 6-4), which could have tied for second place with a victory.

Hart won despite poor free-throw shooting, making only nine of 29 attempts.

Burroughs 65, Burbank 36--The injury-riddled Indians outscored Burbank, 35-13, in the second and third quarters and clinched at least a tie for second place in the Foothill League finale. Erika Huber had 10 points and 15 rebounds and Joyce Lau had eight points and six steals for Burroughs (16-9, 7-3). Burbank finished 8-14, 2-8.

Glendale 50, Hoover 43--Narineh Zohrabie scored 17 points for Glendale (11-12, 4-6) in a Liberty League game.

Alenoush Khachikian also added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Glendale.

Crescenta Valley 76, Arcadia 41--Amirah Leonard had 23 points, 10 rebounds and six steals as the host Falcons (25-1, 10-0) closed out Pacific League play.

Michelle Greco added 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for Crescenta Valley and Jackie Rhetta added 10 points, while Mandi Pryor scored 15 for Arcadia (6-17, 1-9).

Moorpark 91, Malibu 13--Tina Milburn had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Musketeers (22-0, 10-0) in a Frontier League romp at Moorpark.

Tracey Milburn added 13 points and nine assists as Moorpark captured its first league championship and completed its first undefeated season in school history.

Nordhoff 46, Calabasas 29--Erin Barker scored 13 points as the Rangers secured second place in the Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Heather Robertson had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Coyotes (13-8, 6-4), who lost leading scorer Jamie Apody (15.7 points a game) in the third quarter with a shoulder injury after scoring only six points.

Bethel Lancaster 83, AV Christian 20--Kim Guess scored 30 points and had nine assists for the Eagles (15-8, 7-1) in an Agape League victory at Bethel Lancaster.

Teammate Kristin Carl added 23 points and 13 rebounds.

North Hollywood 65, Van Nuys 62--Samantha Fargeon scored 18 points as the visiting Huskies (18-3, 10-0) won their 37th consecutive conference game in the Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Gohar Tumanian had 26 points and 10 rebounds for Van Nuys (10-8, 7-3), but she fouled out early in the fourth quarter. Tumanian scored 17 of the Wolves’ 20 points in the second quarter and 22 of her team’s 29 in the first half.

Chatsworth 76, Cleveland 32--Nancy Vincent had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the visiting Chancellors (17-6, 9-1) in the Northwest Valley Conference romp.

Jodi Borenstein added 17 points for Chatsworth, which outscored the Cavaliers (4-16, 1-9), 32-5, in the first quarter. Sara Gudis contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Chancellors, and Tynitra Wilson had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Grant 46, Poly 40--The Lancers led, 30-18, at halftime behind Bahaneh Maani, who scored 16 points and had six rebounds in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant.

Nakeisha Perkins had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Sharon Pai added 11 rebounds for the Lancers (14-5, 8-2).

Monroe 72, Sylmar 47--Kylie Roberson had 30 points and 14 rebounds for visiting Sylmar (4-11, 3-7), but four of Monroe’s starters scored 14 or more points in the Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Mirna Martinez had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings (7-9, 4-6) and Shirlee Low added 14 points and seven assists.

Kennedy 63, El Camino Real 42--The host Cougars (12-11, 6-4) rode the momentum of a 19-point second quarter to move into a tie for second place in the Northwest Valley Conference.

Tamaya Morris had 18 points and eight assists while Coyles Scarbrough added 15 points, 16 rebounds and six steals for the Cougars.

Reseda 70, Canoga Park 26--Lashonda Holland scored 30 points for the visiting Regents (6-10, 4-6) in the Valley Pac-8 conference victory.
