Konrady’s Double Hits Deep in Heart of Texas

Pepperdine, ranked seventh in the nation, broke a tie on David Konrady’s two-run double in the seventh inning and went on to a 7-2 baseball victory over Texas on Friday at Austin, Tex.

The Waves (3-3) added three runs in the ninth.

Randy Wolf (1-0) pitched seven innings, yielding just six hits and one earned run for Pepperdine.

The 12th-ranked Longhorns (2-4) took a 2-0 lead, but the Waves tied the game with runs in the third and fifth.

The Master’s 7, Cal Baptist 3--Eric Kowes drove in four runs on three hits--including a three-run home run--for the Mustangs (2-3) in a nonconference game at Master’s.

Steve Rodgers (1-1) gave up two runs on seven hits, striking our four and walking one in six innings for Master’s (2-3).

Matt Huter had two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Mustangs.

MEN’S TRACK

Antelope Valley 93 1/2, Moorpark 91 1/2, San Bernardino Valley 15--Craig Kelley won the 100 and 200 meters and Charles Patterson was victorious in the shotput and discus for the Marauders in an opener at Antelope Valley.

Kelley clocked 11.0 seconds in the 100 and 22.4 in the 200.

Patterson put the shot 50 feet 5 inches and threw the discus 136-7.

The Marauders dominated the sprints as George Daniels and Varrick Dabney placed first and second in the 400 with times of 48.4 and 48.5.

Eleazar Hernandez and Josh Canales won twice for Moorpark.

Hernandez clocked 4 minutes 7.1 seconds in the 1,500 and 9:08.0 in the 3,200. Josh Canales cleared 6-5 in the high jump and threw the javelin 166-1.

WOMEN’S TRACK

Moorpark 70, Antelope Valley 46, San Bernardino Valley 13--Kristin Bostick was one of three Marauders to win two events, but Moorpark’s depth proved decisive in the nonconference opener.

Bostick won the 100 high hurdles in 17.1 and the 400 lows in 70.3.

Amy O’Connor won the pole vault (6-6) and triple jump (29-1) for Moorpark.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UC San Diego 65, The Master’s 58--Cindy Yamasaki scored 20 points for the Tritons (15-5) in a nonconference game at San Diego.

Ramah Andrews and Kim Devries each scored 16 points for Master’s (10-18).

Cal Lutheran 86, Pomona-Pitzer 53--Melissa Wood scored 26 points for the Regals (11-10, 7-2) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

Sakari Morrison and Adriene Davis both scored 15 points for the Sagehens (14-7, 4-4).

Pepperdine 89, Gonzaga 60--Jenny Frank had 32 points and 13 rebounds for Waves (11-10, 4-5) in a West Coast Conference game.
