The city has signed a five-year pact that will provide it 595 telephone lines at a 40% discount.

Under an agreement worked out with Pacific Bell, Fullerton will pay a total of $441,252 for Centrex, a Pacific Bell subsidiary, to provide the city’s phone lines with a dial tone and other features, including call waiting, maintenance and special wiring.

The current five-year agreement with Centrex expires next month. The new contract will save the city about $240,000 over the next five years, officials said.
