Nuggets Win, Keep Creeping Up on Playoffs

The Denver Nuggets got a season-high 27 points from Bryant Stith and 20 from Dale Ellis in beating the Golden State Warriors, 102-88, in Denver to pull within half a game of the Trail Blazers for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Stith sank 10 of 11 free throws for Denver, which ended Golden State’s modest two-game winning streak.

Latrell Sprewell had 19 points for the Warriors, who lost for the fifth time in seven games.

Detroit 92, Dallas 91--Terry Mills scored seven of his 15 points in the final six minutes, including the go-ahead basket for the Pistons, who won at Auburn Hills, Mich.

It was Detroit’s fourth victory in five games.

Otis Thorpe had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Pistons, who also got 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds from Grant Hill.
