Spartans End Season for Washington, 64-50

Jamie Feick and Quinton Brooks, both seniors at Michigan State (16-15), made certain their college careers would last a while longer Wednesday, scoring 16 points each in a 64-50 victory over Washington (16-12) in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at East Lansing.

Brian Williams’ three free throws gave Alabama (17-11) a 72-69 victory over Illinois (18-13). . . . Larry Davis scored 33 points and South Carolina (18-11) was a 100-73 winner over Davidson (25-5). . . . Maurice Trotter scored 18 points in Illinois State’s (21-11) 73-49 win over Mount St. Mary’s. . . . Sam Okey scored 11 points in the second half as Wisconsin (17-14) beat Manhattan (17-12), 55-42. . . . Bobby Jackson scored 17 points for Minnesota (19-12) in a 68-52 victory over Saint Louis (16-14). . . . Tyson Wheeler scored 24 points to lead Rhode Island (19-13) to an 82-77 victory over Marist (22-7). . . . LeVeldro Simmons scored 26 points for Tulane (19-9) in an 87-73 victory at Auburn (19-13) in overtime. . . .
