Prince Of Thieves, considered by many the best local Kentucky Derby hope, is among six probable starters for Sunday’s $250,000 San Felipe Stakes, the last major prep for the Santa Anita Derby on April 6.

Beaten in his first start of 1996, the three-quarter brother to 1995 Preakness winner Timber Country came back to win the Santa Catalina Stakes on Feb. 4. He worked six furlongs in 1:14 1/5 on Monday and will be ridden again by Gary Stevens.

Among those scheduled to oppose him are Budroyale, who has won three of his four starts, Odyle, Ready To Order, Ayrton S and Cavonnier.

Semoran, who has three consecutive victories for trainer Bob Baffert, including one in the Foster City Stakes at Bay Meadows, was scheduled to run, but it now appears he will run in one of three other races. Under consideration are the Remington Park Derby or Jim Beam Stakes at Turfway Park on March 30 or the Golden State Derby a week earlier at Bay Meadows.

Horse Racing Notes

Alex Solis and Brice Blanc both won twice Wednesday. . . . Heavily favored My Flag won the $200,000 Bonnie Miss at Gulfstream Park. Ridden by Jerry Bailey, the winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies won by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:45 3/5 for the 1 1/16 miles. Faithful City was second and La Rosa third.
