Rabies Shots Offered for Dogs and Cats
Dogs and cats can be vaccinated against rabies for $4 at a clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Piru Neighborhood Council barbecue area at 802 N. Orchard St.
The low-cost rabies vaccination clinic is sponsored by the Ventura County Department of Animal Regulation and the Ventura County Veterinary Medical Assn.
All dogs older than 4 months are required by state and county ordinance to be vaccinated against rabies. They must also be licensed. In Moorpark and Oxnard, cats must also be vaccinated and licensed.
Dog licenses may be purchased at the clinic at the regular price--$10 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $30 for those that have not. Written proof of spaying or neutering must be presented with the license application at the time of purchase.
Licenses are required within 30 days of acquiring a new dog, moving to Ventura County, the dog reaching 4 months of age, or the date on which the previous license expired.
