Sara South never knew she had a talent for public speaking. That’s because she’d never tried it.

When the Monte Vista High School senior entered a contest to earn class credit, to her surprise she won. Speaking on the subject of affirmative action, she took top honors in the countywide Lions Club competition and goes on to the regional contest this month.
