One bank in Camarillo and another in Fillmore were robbed Wednesday afternoon, but authorities believe the holdups were unrelated.

A Bank of America branch in Camarillo was robbed at 2:15 p.m. by a man who handed a note to a teller but did not display a weapon, said Gary Auer, agent in charge of the FBI’s Ventura County office.

The robber took money from one teller at the 2400 E. Ponderosa Drive branch and is not believed to be involved in other bank holdups in Ventura County, Auer said.

The robber is described as a white man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 150 pounds with a short-cropped beard and mustache. He was also wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a wig of dark brown and gray shoulder-length hair and clear glasses.

In the second holdup, three tellers at a Wells Fargo branch in Fillmore were robbed at 2:58 p.m. by a man with a sawed-off shotgun, Auer said.

The man arrived at the branch at 838 Ventura Road and fled in a stolen pickup truck that was abandoned at a bar in Fillmore shortly after the robbery, Auer said. The robber is not believed to have committed other bank robberies in the county, Auer said.

The Wells Fargo robber is described as a white man with short, brown hair in his mid-40s, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a cap and sunglasses, and covered his face with a red and white bandanna.

No one was injured in the two bank robberies, the 13th and 14th this year in Ventura County.
