From Times staff and wire reports

Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren filed a complaint in federal court Friday saying the National Indian Gaming Commission has failed to halt slot machines in California’s Indian-run casinos. “These video slot machines are being operated in flagrant violation of both federal and state law, and the state’s hands are tied,” Lungren said. Lungren asked the court to order the commission to cease operation of casino-style gambling. The commission, a federal regulatory agency, did not return calls seeking comment.
