Carew’s Efforts Help Make a Difference
Sometimes life transcends sports for a fanatic like me. And sometimes they are wed.
There was a press conference last fall. And the magic name Rod Carew. And a blood type that matched my screwy genetics. And a phone number. And for the first time in 40 times giving blood, I actually knew the recipient.
All because Rod Carew had the courage to shed a privacy guarded since youth to carry his family’s fears, hopes and grief into the glare of publicity.
