In other Orange Empire Conference baseball games:

Cypress 8, Golden West 7 (13)--Cypress’ Steve Hindman hit Jason Besson’s two-out pitch over center fielder Charlie Tuggle’s head to score Keith Ginter with the winning run.

Ginter went four for five with two RBIs and scored two runs for Cypress. Golden West catcher Kevin Loken drove in three runs for the Rustlers.

Riverside 4, Orange Coast 2--Riverside broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth, scoring two runs after the Pirates made three errors in the inning.

At the Merced softball tournament:

Cypress 5, Taft 1--Shana Rizzo pitched a six-hitter for Cypress in pool play. Teammate Lise Delligatta was two for three with a home run and three RBIs for the Chargers (38-12). In another pool play game, Cypress defeated Shasta, 4-3.

In Orange Empire Conference swimming:

Pirates continue streak--Mona Khanis won the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and swam the fastest split in the 200 freestyle relay to help Orange Coast to its 110th consecutive dual-meet victory.

At the Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis tournament:

Saddleback captures doubles championship--The Saddleback doubles team of Brian Gruner and Keith Snavely defeated teammates Hadley Ernst and Eric Lundblad, 6-3, 6-3, to capture the doubles championship of the Orange Empire Conference at the Old Ranch Tennis Club in Seal Beach.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis tournament:

Top-seeded player captures tournament title--Top-seeded Debbie Vonusa of Fullerton defeated Saddleback’s Missy Hosoi, 6-2, 6-2, to win the Orange Empire Conference women’s singles championship. Hosoi, who was unseeded, knocked off the second-, fourth- and seventh-seeded players to reach the title match.

In doubles, Vonusa teamed with her sister, Lynn Vonusa, to defeat Saddleback’s Gabi Rios and Sydney Weinberg, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4, for the conference title.
