THE BEST OF DAYTIME

Share

It is the time of year again when daytime actors have visions of winning one of the coveted daytime emmys. While it is true that some definitely deserve their nominations, there are others who made it despite the fact they did not exactly have riveting story lines to work with during the nomination period. Here is the list of nominees in the major daytime categories for “The 23rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” airing May 22 at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Leading actress: All of the nominees are familiar. Susan Lucci (Erica Kane Marick, “All My Children”) has received her 16th Emmy nod in this category, and this year probably is her best chance to finally take home the trophy, since she did some of her best work to date. Also nominated is Jensen Buchanan (Victoria Hudson, “Another World”).

Leading actor: Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, “General Hospital”) is a standout, especially for his work in the Stone Cates AIDS story. Others nominees are David Canary (Adam/Stuart Chandler, “All My Children”); Charles Keating (Carl Hutchins, “Another World”); Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”); and Eric Braeden (Victor Newman, “The Young and the Restless”).

Brown (Marah Lewis, “Guiding Light”).
