Geologist Richard Raskoff will explain the effects of the Northridge earthquake and discuss temblor preparation at the Monday meeting of the Valley College Historical Museum Assn.
Raskoff, a 50-year San Fernando Valley resident who teaches geology at Valley College, will come to the meeting equipped with slides taken after the Northridge quake rocked the Valley. He will show how to cut off the gas and secure household valuables in case of an earthquake.
Raskoff “knows the earthquake very well, not only from the ground but from the air,” said Austin Conover, the museum’s director. Raskoff, a licensed pilot, took his geology students aloft after the quake to show them the damage.
The meeting, which is free to the public, begins at 3 p.m. in the college’s Cafeteria Conference Room, 5800 Fulton Ave. For details, call (818) 781-1200, Ext. 373.
