Early Reservations

Eric Wachter is weeks away from opening his new seafood restaurant on the Ventura Pier, but his first guests arrive tonight--maybe 1,500 of them . . . Pier Into the Future, a fund-raising group, has invited its benefactors to check out the new eatery. “Hopefully, they won’t all show up at once,” he jokes.

Nice Comparison

Camarillo isn’t often likened to the tony parts of Europe, but Randy Patton sees the similarities (D7C). . . . “Looking out my window at the mountains and the sunny skies, it’s like being on the French Riviera,” says the chairman of Threshold Corp., an audio components maker that recently moved to Ventura County from Sacramento.

It’s a Trip

Simi Valley’s new magnet high school could finally get a name tonight when the school board votes on the issue. A committee recommends the name Odyssey High School. “It’s a word that symbolizes a journey of opportunity and challenges,” says incoming principal Patricia Hauser.
