The St. Louis Cardinals put cleanup hitter Ron Gant on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right hamstring. . . . San Diego Padre third baseman Ken Caminiti has an abdominal strain and could return to the lineup Monday. Caminiti flew to San Diego to be examined for a hernia, but doctors ruled that out.
